Pear Crumble

This Christmas we received one of those mail order gift towers famous for its pears.  Since I needed a dessert for Christmas Eve, I decided to make a pear crumble with the pears.  I knew that no one was going to eat the pears alone so I tricked them into eating fruit by making a fruit dessert instead.

Ingredients:
3 - 4  pears, peeled, cored and sliced
2 teaspoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1 dash ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon cold butter
3 tablespoons nuts
3 tablespoons old-fashioned oats

Here's how:
Use an apple corer-slicer to cut the pear.

Sliced and cored pear.

Remove skins from the pears.  Cut the slices in half again, if they are too thick.  Place pear slices in a greased 1-qt. baking dish.  Sprinkle with lemon juice.

Peeled, sliced and placed in pan.   Sprinkle with lemon juice.

In a food processor, combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, butter and nuts.

Everything added to food processor

All processed and ready for the oats.

Add the oats and pulse once to combine.  You do not want to chop up the oats.

All mixed and ready to top the pears.
Sprinkle over pears. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly.

Pears topped and ready for the oven.
Eat and enjoy hot.  Top for vanilla ice cream if you want.
