Decorating Canning Jars

I like to give away my homemade jams and jellies as a gift, but I think that the canning jar is a bland, boring thing.  Here is how I jazz up my jam and jelly jars to make them into a pretty gift that anyone would like to receive.

Materials:

Jars
Fabric
Ribbon
Spoons

Here's how:

Find a fabric that you like.  I bought a pack of pre-cut Christmas fabric.  I think the squares are for quilting but they were perfect for me.  Each sheet could be cut into four squares that fit over each jar.  You need a 4 inch by 4 inch square of fabric for each jar.

Remove the screw top from each jar.  Place the fabric over each jar.  Screw the top over each piece of fabric.

Tie a small piece of ribbon around the screw top.

Fabric and ribbon in place

Place a spoon on top of each jar, use tape to affix each spoon to the top.

Jars are all done and pretty

Ready to give as a gift

If you are giving jams and jellies, also give a small homemade pound cake for the perfect gift.
