Oreo Truffles

This recipe came from my stepmother.  Even though I tease her incessantly, I want her to know how much I love her and there is no greater honor I can bestow on someone than to share their recipes here.

This recipe is easy to make and all of the ingredients are found in our local grocery store.  This recipe uses only 3 ingredients.  The technique is easy too - smashing, shaping and smothering.  If you want an easy recipe that will taste great and impress, make this dessert treat.

Ingredients:

1 large package Oreos, smashed into crumbs or processed in the food processor
1 8 oz. brick cream cheese, softened
1 package Baker's white chocolate

Here's how:

Combine the Oreo crumbs and cream cheese in a bowl.  Use your hands or a spoon to mix it.
These are all the ingredients
Once fully incorporated, make the mix into 1 inch balls.
Balls made
Refrigerate the balls for at least 30 minutes until cold.  Overnight is OK too.

Melt the chocolate in a bowl for 30 seconds in the microwave.  Stir.  Repeat until melted.
After 30 seconds

After 90 seconds
Dip the balls into the melted chocolate.
Dipped truffles
Place the truffles onto a plate and let the chocolate harden.  If you want to decorate the. for the season you can use sprinkles etc.  Decorate before the chocolate hardens.
Truffles all dipped and decorated
If you use wax or parchment paper, it makes it easier to remove them from the plate.  Also,  if you keep the truffles too close together, be careful when separating them.  If they stick together the chocolate will come off.  Use a knife to separate them.
